Elections

Elections are held at the end of every season at our Annual General Meeting, typically in April. Only certain roles are up for election each year. This way we're not replacing an entire board at one time and knowledge can be passed to newly elected officials.

Odd number years: President, Treasurer and Directors A & B

Even number years: Vice President, Secretary, Director C

If you're interested in running for election in any of the above roles, bringing new ideas to help evolve our league come to the next AGM. You can review the roles and responsibilities for each position below

Roles & Responsibilities

President:
The president of the league serves as the chief executive officer and is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the organization. This role includes presiding over board meetings, facilitating effective communication among board members, and ensuring that the league’s mission and goals are being met. The president represents the association in public and official capacities and works closely with other board members to oversee operations, programs, and initiatives. Additionally, the president is responsible for ensuring that the association adheres to its bylaws and policies, while fostering a positive and collaborative environment for volunteers, members, and participants.

Vice President:
The vice president of the league acts as the second-in-command and supports the president in leading the organization. This role involves assisting with the execution of the league’s strategic plans and stepping in for the president when needed. Additionally, the vice president works closely with other board members to facilitate smooth operations, address any issues that arise, and contribute to decision-making processes. The vice president is also prepared to assume the president's responsibilities in the event of their absence, ensuring continuity and stability within the organization.

Treasurer:
The treasurer of the league is responsible for overseeing the organization's financial management. This role includes maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions, preparing and presenting regular financial reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies. The treasurer also manages the association's budget, monitors cash flow, and coordinates with other board members to make informed financial decisions, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the league.

Secretary:
The secretary of the league is responsible for managing the organization's administrative tasks and ensuring effective communication within the board and with members. This role includes taking and maintaining accurate minutes of board meetings, organizing and storing official documents, and ensuring that records are kept up to date. The secretary also handles correspondence on behalf of the association and distributes necessary information to board members and stakeholders. The secretary's organizational skills and attention to detail are essential in supporting the smooth operation of the association.

Director:

Directors may be assigned specific areas of focus, or leading special projects, ensuring these initiatives align with the league’s mission and goals. Additionally, directors are expected to act in the best interest of the association, collaborate effectively with other board members, and engage with members and volunteers to support the association's activities. Their leadership and commitment are crucial in driving the success and sustainability of the organization.
