    On behalf of the Executive, we hope everyone is enjoying the new season so far! After a long summer break, players are getting back into form, setting new goals, and working toward surpassing their personal bests. We have lot's of news to share, please read to the end!

Memorial Shoot - October 31st

    We hope to see a lot of players at the Memorial shoot. As well, feel free and we encourage those to dress up in a costume while you play (or those that come to watch!).

Regular Season Format

    We wanted to take a moment to explain the reasoning behind this year’s league format and address some of the feedback we’ve been hearing.

    At the General Meeting, there was near-unanimous support for having a league-wide round-robin format. This year’s round-robin schedule was designed so that every team has the opportunity to play against every other team. The goal is to give everyone a chance to meet different teams, experience different playing styles, and give us a better understanding of each team’s achievements and where they fit when it comes time to set the playoff divisions.

    We understand and hear the concerns from some of the lower-tier teams who may not be enjoying playing against the higher-tier teams. We completely understand that it can be frustrating to face more experienced players, especially when the games don’t go your way.

    However, one of the purposes of the regular season is to bring everyone together and give players the opportunity to play against and learn from more experienced players. We hope that the higher-calibre players can help encourage, support, and mentor newer or developing players. There is always an opportunity to learn something new, and everyone has to start somewhere.

    We would also like to reiterate that once playoffs begin, lower-calibre teams will only play against teams within their designated calibre or division. The regular season is being used to help determine the appropriate playoff divisions so that the playoff games are fair, competitive, and enjoyable for everyone.

    Most importantly, we want darts to be enjoyable. This is a league, but it is also supposed to be a fun night out, a chance to socialize, meet people, and enjoy the game.

    We have also been hearing concerns about some late nights and games running longer than expected. We ask that everyone please be respectful of the time it takes to step away for smoking or other breaks. We understand that people need to take breaks, but please try to keep them reasonable so we can avoid unnecessary delays and keep games moving along for everyone.

    Our hope is to continue growing the league, bring in more players and teams, and create a league that people look forward to being part of. The regular season is primarily about getting everyone playing, determining where teams belong, and setting up fair and competitive playoff divisions.

    There will be nights when you lose. There will be nights when you win. And hopefully, there will be plenty of nights that come down to the wire and give us those nail-biting finishes that make darts so much fun.

    We appreciate everyone’s patience, sportsmanship, and understanding as we continue to build and improve the league.

NEW! Sponsored Team Points Challenge

    In an effort to increase participation and engagement at MHDL member tournaments, the MHDL is introducing a Sponsored Team Points Challenge for the 2026–27 season. The goal is to encourage more members to participate throughout the tournament series, while adding a fun team-based element and giving everyone an opportunity to contribute toward their team's success. Thanks to our generous sponsors, there will be a $1,000 sponsored prize pot available to the top three teams at the conclusion of the challenge.

How it Works:
• 1 point for every team member who shows up and participates in a tournament.
• 1 point for every knockout round won by your team’s player.
• Points will accumulate throughout the tournament series.
• At the end of the 2026–27 season, the participating players of the three teams with the highest point totals will receive a share of the $1,000 sponsored prize pot.

Prize Pot & Eligibility

    The $1,000 prize pot will be distributed among the top three teams based on their final point totals. To be eligible to receive prize money, a player must have participated in MHDL tournaments and earned points for their team during the 2026–27 season (excluding open triples). The prize distribution and any applicable ties will be determined by the MHDL Executive and communicated to members before the conclusion of the challenge.

A Few Important Details
• Points are earned based on actual tournament participation and knockout-round results.
• Team points will be tracked throughout the tournament series.
• Members can contribute to their team's total simply by showing up and participating.
• Points acquired remain with the team they were earned for, even if a player subsequently moves to another team.
• If a player is suspended, their accumulated points will also be suspended for the duration of their suspension.
• The MHDL Executive will be responsible for maintaining the official points standings and resolving any questions regarding points or eligibility.

Pilot Initiative
    This is a pilot initiative for the 2026–27 season. Following the season, the MHDL Executive will evaluate the results of the challenge, including participation levels and member feedback, to determine whether the initiative should continue in future seasons.
